Episode 18. Jess Trichel (part one)
On this episode of the podcast, we are joined by snow cone enthusiast, Dr. Jess Trichel. Together, Matt and Jess discuss four-wheeling, petting horses, and what it's like to be a connoisseur of rental cars.
This is part one of a two part conversation with Dr. Trichel. In part one we cover her path into veterinary medicine, her own journey finding happiness through exploring personal values, and odd circumstances that led these two to become friends.
Jess Trichel is a veterinarian who, after her equine medicine internship, spent many years on the road teaching veterinary finance to us lowly vet students. After transitioning out of that role and working within a larger veterinary corporate entity, she has recently decided to see what this whole small animal medicine thing is all about. She is currently filling a variety of small animal relief / locum needs outside of Wilmington, NC. That is, whenever her horses allow her to leave the farm.

Live Oak Bank Externship Application
This is Matt's incredibly embarrassing video submitted to Live Oak Bank as his externship application. Yes, an externship... at a bank... and this is what he went with. We know, we know. That's what we said.
The song was written in the quiet section of the library on the day of the deadline. Music built in Garage Band, audio recorded directly through the camera on-board microphone, and choreography 'discovered' in real-time. This video was never meant for public consumption.
Edited and submitted moments before midnight. This song is the embodiment of Matt's "hey, why not? Let's see what happens" attitude and inability to do anything without a looming deadline.
If only Matt and Jess kept their silly mouths shut about the topic during the podcast, we would have never needed to dig this one out of the archives. And Matt may still have had a chance at seeming "cool" in front of others.
Alas, it is not to be.
